Miraculous Escape: A TAVR Triumph

In the world of medicine, some days remind us why resilience and teamwork are the heart of every successful procedure. Recently, a TAVR (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement) case put us to the ultimate test.
From the beginning, challenges loomed large. Severe calcifications and tortuous femoral arteries made sheath placement nearly impossible, requiring a second puncture. Just as we navigated the valve and placed the wire in the heart, the unexpected happened—the cath lab shut down entirely.
With no time to waste, we shifted the patient, wires in the heart and large tubes in the legs, to a secondary cath lab. Along the way, the patient faced recurrent ventricular tachycardia (VT), needing shocks and CPR.
After four hours of relentless effort, a 29 mm self-expanding valve was successfully deployed. Against all odds, the patient recovered beautifully and was discharged within 72 hours—a true testament to the power of perseverance and innovation.
Every challenge brings a new triumph—this was one for the books.

DVANCING CARDIAC CARE A SUCCESSFUL TAVR PROCEDURE

At 7:30 am, under the expert leadership of Dr. Amit Bhushan Sharma, our team achieved a significant milestone in cardiac care. A 76-year-old patient with severe calcific aortic stenosis and prior bypass surgery successfully underwent Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) without open-heart surgery.

The procedure took just 45 minutes, with 20 minutes to cross the valve, performed under local anesthesia for safer recovery. A temporary pacing wire was placed for 24 hours as a precaution. TAVR, a minimally invasive alternative to open-heart surgery, continues to revolutionize care for high-risk patients.

Pioneering Pulmonary Care: AI-Assisted Pulmonary Embolectomy

This Tuesday marked another milestone for the cardiology team at Paras as we successfully performed our third AI-assisted pulmonary embolectomy. The case involved a 35-year-old female in critical condition, battling massive bilateral pulmonary embolism. With a respiratory rate of 28/min and oxygen saturation at just 84%, her condition rapidly worsened despite high-flow nasal oxygen. Given the urgency, catheter-directed thrombolytics were not an option. Instead, we deployed the cutting-edge 16F Penumbra Flash Lightning catheter, equipped with AI-driven sensors for mechanical thrombectomy. The results were remarkable: Pulmonary artery pressure reduced from 48 mmHg to 32 mmHg Cardiac index improved from 2.1 to 2.7 The patient’s recovery was swift, requiring no oxygen support postoperatively and being discharged on Day 3. This case highlights the transformative power of AI-driven interventions in saving lives and setting new standards in pulmonary care.

A Breakthrough in Hypertension Care: Renal Denervation Therapy

We are thrilled to share the successful completion of our first Renal Denervation Therapy—a cutting-edge procedure for resistant hypertension—placing us among the pioneers of this advanced treatment in the country.
Using the Medtronic Spyral Multielectrode Symplicity Catheter and the Symplicity G3 Generator, we targeted overactive renal nerves to lower blood pressure in a patient unresponsive to traditional medication. The procedure involved:
21 ablations, each lasting 60 seconds
12 ablations in the right kidney
9 ablations in the left kidney
Both branches and main arteries (3mm–8mm) treated
This innovative therapy offers new hope to patients battling uncontrolled hypertension, providing an effective, minimally invasive solution.
